Workforce planning is a continual process used to align the needs and priorities of New York State’s workforce and economic development objectives. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires workforce planning at the State, Regional and Local level to enable partnerships which meet the workforce needs of businesses.
Collaborative Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB) Regional Workforce Planning recognizes workforce as an integral component of economic development. It is intended to identify and leverage assets of the New York State Career Center system. It supports Regional Economic Development Council strategic planning and the role of the State Workforce Investment Board in addressing workforce priorities.
Also important is the Labor Market Information for Workforce Planning page which serves as a resource for regional workforce planning.
