Fisher-Price/Mattel will hold open interviews at the Millenium Hotel in Cheektowaga on August 7th from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. The toy maker is looking to fill 200 seasonal call center positions at its headquarters in East Aurora (Erie County). Servotronics Inc. in Elma (Erie County), a motion control equipment and cutlery maker, is currently looking to fill 30 new positions. The company will hold a job fair on August 25th and 26th at its factory in Elma. The openings include entry-level to professional positions such as CNC operators, information technology and engineering posts. (August 16, 2017-The Buffalo News)

Bureau Veritas Consumer Products is seeking $1.3 million in tax breaks from the Amherst Industrial Development Agency for the company’s computer product testing lab’s $9.1 million expansion. The expansion project would allow the company to consolidate its operations from three sites in the town into one building on Northpointe Parkway. Bureau Veritas, a Paris-headquartered company, is committed to spending $2.14 million on new equipment and will retain 264 full and part-time jobs, while creating five new jobs in exchange for sales tax breaks. If approved, work would begin next month and be completed in the fall of 2018. (August 15-The Buffalo News)

Delaware North Sportservice held two job fairs to fill seasonal, part-time positions. The company, which provides food service for the Buffalo Sabres, is looking to fill cook, bartender, server, cashier and other positions at Keybank Center in downtown Buffalo (Erie County). Fast-food burger chain Checkers will open a fourth location at the end of this year or early 2018. Franchisee owners plan to open one or two more locations in Western New York by 2020. (August 29-The buffalo news)


LAYOFFS AND CLOSINGS

New this month

Local furniture retailer Advance Furniture is closing both of its Western New York locations. The stores, which are closing because the owner is retiring, will begin liquidation sales on August 31st. (August 29, 2017-The buffalo news)
