BEGINNING IMMEDIATELY, Local Area Contacts may request consultant services in any single or combination of categories listed above. Once a request is received, the Department will assign a consultant qualified in the category(ies) of expertise based on a mini-bid process. Most consultant services are provided to the local area free of charge. However, consultant expenses and/or costs of materials may be incurred depending upon the nature of the project. Each request will be considered individually.

TO REQUEST CONSULTANT SERVICES IN YOUR AREA, Local Area Contacts must submit the electronic request form. Provide a brief, but precise description of the services you are requesting and the outcomes you hope to achieve. A representative of the Workforce Development and Training Division of NYSDOL will follow-up with the local area contact within three business days of the initial request. Details of the project and consultant assignment will be discussed at that time.

TO REQUEST A SECRET SHOPPER, Local Area Contacts should use the secret shopper electronic request form. Indicate specifically what areas of service you would like shopped (e.g., intake process, resource room, etc.) and the method (e.g., anonymously via telephone, web site or on-site visit; or via an announced observer). If an on-site visit is required, provide the center name, address and telephone number. Provide brief background indicating purpose of the shop; what information you hope to get from the shopper’s experience and how you will use the feedback to improve services or operations.

DEPARTMENT SPONSORED REGIONAL TRAINING. In addition to local requests for capacity building and secret shoppers, the Department will occasionally schedule regional training opportunities on a variety of topics pertinent to members of local one-stop systems in New York State. These training events will generally be offered at no charge to local workforce professionals recognized as members of the one-stop system community. Large training events (conferences, academies or institutes, etc.) may carry a nominal fee and will be posted on the Calendar of Events at the time the event is scheduled. [The NYSDOL reserves the right to determine appropriate audiences for scheduled training and may refuse registrants that are not commonly considered part of the New York State workforce development community.]

If you know of a training topic that would be beneficial to you and others in your local one-stop system or statewide, please send an e-mail with your request to: onestop@labor.state.ny.us. ONLY requests from authorized Local Workforce Investment Areas and their representatives will be considered.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO CHECK THE EVENT CALENDAR FOR UPCOMING EVENTS!
