New York State’s  minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.  Separate rules apply for farm workers and workers who receive tips.  For more information, visit the Labor Standards section of our web site.

If you work on a public work project, you’re entitled to prevailing wages

There are special labor laws for children who work.  Most require working papers, while child performers require additional certification.

The department is working hard to combat worker misclassification to ensure workers receive the correct wage and are covered by their employers for unemployment insurance and workers compensation.
