The 9th Annual Wayne County Job Fair was held on October 19, 2005 at the Quality Inn in Newark, New York. More than thirty-five businesses were on hand to discuss employment opportunities with over 500 job seekers. One business reported, "best one attended in seven years." The job fair was sponsored by the Department of Labor, Wayne County Workforce Development, and the Wayne County Business Council.

The Department of Labor and the National Council on the Aging (NCOA) co-sponsored a Job Fair for Older Workers on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the Patchogue One-Stop Career Center. OPUS Staffing Agency, Bank of America and Utopia Home Care were among local employers on hand to discuss employment opportunities with job seekers, while the Suffolk County Bar Association was available to give free legal advice regarding Senior issues. Many job seekers also took advantage of the presentations given by our Supervisory and Labor Service Representative (LSR) staff to learn more about the services that offered at the Patchogue One-Stop.

The New York State Department of Labor, Division of Employment Services would like to announce the appointment of Kimberly Haviland to the position of Business Services Representative.  In her new role, Ms. Haviland will be responsible for working with businesses within Saratoga, Warren and Washingtoncounties to provide them with a range of Business Services available through the Workforce New York network of One-Stop Career Centers.  These services include but are not limited to:  access to New York’s Job/Talent Bank, Human Resource Consultation, Safety and Health Consultation, Job Service Employer Committee (JSEC) seminars, and customized recruitments and job fairs.

JSEC Approved Provider for HRCI Recertification
NYS-SHRM welcomes the New York Job Service Employer Committee, Inc. (JSEC) as a Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) Approved Provider. This collaboration provides another avenue for those members seeking recertification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and/or Global Professional in Human Resources.
